(H&M Dress, Zara heels)

19: Brunch at Bread and Circus (Minty Citrus juice is where it is AT) followed by dinner at the Winery with the best people in the world. I wore my best backless kate-moss'-alien-high-street-baby dress, drank g&ts and ate cheese and fancy dip, so what more can you really ask for?

dark paradise

1. Shelly beach on the hottest november day
2. Fella swim one piece
3. Homemade soba noodle salad with honey roasted pumpkin
4. Peonie season
5. Post-hair chop in atmos&here dress and asos loafers
6. Haloumi salad @ laneway cafe in cammeray (highly recommend)

Today is the first day of summer, the first day of my favourite month and the first post in a long time. In fact, it has been a year of firsts - university, jobs, quickly realising how fast brunch will drain your bank account (but when it is haloumi salad with grilled asparagus, rocket and grapefruit, is it worth the financial pain?).

One existential crisis, break-up, spur of the moment hair cut and many photogenic meals later, I finally feel ready to share some carefully curated snapshots of my life again. For those of you who come here to see outfits, I am not sure that there will be as many as there once was - fear not, I am still as materialistic as ever and a dedicated consumer, but thinking about fashion too seriously/ often makes my brain hurt. Instead, I hope to make this more of a visual diary of shitty i-phone shots, beautiful food and the occasional shameless #selfie. Hope you enjoy & thanks for sticking around.

navy fixation

(Zara coat, Topshop pants, Converse, Bag from Ebay)

In the midst of my first-ever-round-of-uni-exams hysteria, I have been jealously been eyeing the non-stop mbfwa updates filling my feed whilst buried in layers. Sydney is cold. Libraries are cold (Why is it that the air con is always on full blast?). But at least I have a nice new navy coat.

slow burn

(Nike Top and shoes, Eska Alikai skirt, Vintage jumper)

Took sporty to a very literal level today in the only athletic pieces I (will probably ever) own. Uni has well and truly begun to consume my life, and with it comes trekking across campus, meaning that my sneakers have been worn with increasing frequency. But whilst I fool people into thinking I just missed out on the Olympics with my faux tennis player get up, we all know I'm more likely to be sitting on the stairs than climbing them. I really am working on the whole exercising and being healthy thing this year though, I swear.

(Zara skirt, Bassike tshirt, Free People espadrilles)

In my quest to diversify my shoedrobe and cure my borderline obsessive tendencies to reach for black ankle boots, I got these leopard babies from Free People and have since been wearing them to death. With work and uni starting soon, I have been hoarding comfortable and convenient flats, which are also great for the morning after the night before's heel induced death-by-blisters. I wore them with a Zara balenciaga-esque ruffly skirt (It is important to distinguish that peplums below the hip are very much different to those attached to tops- much more socially acceptable AND aesthetically pleasing) and a slowly disintegrating tshirt. For all those preparing their minds and wardrobes for the exciting new chapter in our lives that is tertiary education, I wish you luck. Make lots of new friends and don't skip too many classes.

(Target 'dress', Windsor Smith sandals, Sportsgirl hat, Tigerlily bikini)

Posting these three weeks late, so my memories of that day are now hazy, but from what I remember it involved several sun-drenched hours of perfectly peaceful nothingness on the northern beaches before watching an idyllic sunset on the ferry and cocktails on the harbour with my favourite human - all in my favourite dress of the summer (which is actually a top from target, I swear it isn't that short when my arms aren't raised...).

(Glassons dress, Marcs bag, Sportsgirl hat, Windsor Smith sandals)

This summer for me has been all about simplicity - the end of high school signals a change in pace and I have had time to do such cheesy things as: decluttering my life, relationships and, indeed, my wardrobe. Bags have been downsized (from huge totes to a tiny leather pouch) and things have been cleaned out, waiting to be given away or sold (market stall coming soon...). All this has cleared the way for exciting changes to come, with university and new jobs! (and savings from said jobs translating into new clothes).  One of my new years resolutions is to be more adventurous in the apparel department in terms of prints and colours. As you can tell, this particular 30 degree day was not taken as an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone, but rather as a time to don a fail-safe all black everything outfit and retreat into the safety of shopping centre  air-con. Maybe next year.
